Answer

I can advise that my Department is currently preparing the Eastern Transport Plan 2035 (ETP). This is a new transport plan which will set the framework for making transport policy and investment decisions up until 2035. The ETP covers five council areas including Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council (LCCC).

The ETP will support the preparation of the Local Development Plan (LDP) for LCCC and therefore the consideration of improved transport access to Lisburn city centre will be undertaken in line with the LCCC LDP timetable.

In addition, officials are currently finalising a Northern Ireland wide Active Travel Delivery Plan.

This includes an update of our policies and design guidance for active travel. It also includes active travel network plans for our larger towns and cities, including Lisburn and a methodology for prioritising pedestrian and cycling improvements in smaller towns and villages. The aim is to consult with the public on this plan later this year.
