Answer
I have been advised that the Ayrshire Development in Lisburn has applied for Geotechnical Certification under CD622 Managing Geotechnical Risk of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges under the title Brokerstown Road.
The developer is currently progressing the various stages required of CD622 and has completed the Statement of Intent and a combined Preliminary Sources Study and Geotechnical Investigation Report stage. I advised in October 2025, certification of the combined report stage has not been released as the correct geotechnical certificate has not yet been received by my Department and this remains the position.
The Geotechnical Advisor reviewed and commented on the Geotechnical Design Report in April 2025 which is the final phase before construction can commence. Subject to the developer satisfactorily addressing the comments made as a result of this review, geotechnical certification may be deemed acceptable.
