Answer
The North South Interconnector is a strategic priority for my Department. It will drive downward pressure on consumer costs, enabling sustainable economic growth, reducing dispatch down of renewable generators, and improving energy security.
My officials engage regularly with counterparts in the Irish Government on energy matters, including the North South Interconnector, to discuss progress on delivery.
Construction in the North began in 2024; however, there have been delays to progress in the South. The project remains on track for delivery by 2031, subject to regulatory and construction milestones.
