Answer
The Autumn Budget included measures which will reduce domestic electricity bills in Britain by £150 annually for a three-year period beginning in April 2026.
This is made up of, firstly, removing the Energy Company Obligation. The Energy Company Obligation never applied here, thus is not part of electricity consumers’ bills.
In addition to this, Treasury will fund, from April, 75% of the domestic share of the Renewables Obligation. The NI Renewables Obligation is part of domestic electricity bills here and Finance officials are engaging with Treasury to agree how a similar level of support would feed through to domestic electricity bills here.
