Answer
The report into the review of the Strategic Investment Board (SIB) was finalised in 2025. The review recognised the important role that SIB plays in providing specialist expertise to support investment planning, infrastructure delivery and the effective implementation of major projects and programmes across the public sector. It also concluded that SIB’s future role should be considered in light of the Executive’s priorities and made a number of recommendations in that regard.
Following the review, we have provided strategic direction to SIB to support a more robust approach to delivery and a stronger focus on strategic infrastructure investment. SIB has since refocused its business model to align more closely with Executive priorities and to maximise its strategic contribution to the delivery of key investment and infrastructure objectives.
Officials have worked with SIB to develop a strategic implementation plan to take forward the review’s recommendations. That work is continuing, with officials and SIB working closely together to shape SIB’s future role and ensure it remains well placed to support the Executive’s long-term investment and infrastructure priorities.
